Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani will play in Game 3 of the World Series despite suffering a shoulder subluxation in the previous contest, the team announced Monday.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Ohtani is “in a great spot” after he left Saturday’s Game 2 against the New York Yankees in visible pain, according to ESPN’s Karl Ravech.

The injury occurred during the seventh inning of the Dodgers’ 4-2 victory. Ohtani slid awkwardly into second base on a steal attempt and stayed down after being called out on the play.

Ohtani has recorded one hit and a run scored in the World Series.

The Japanese phenom posted a gaudy 1.036 OPS (190 OPS+) during the regular season while slugging 54 home runs and stealing 59 bases.

The Dodgers will look to take a commanding 3-0 series lead when Game 3 gets underway on Monday at 8:08 p.m. ET in New York.
