Competing against the NFL on Sunday afternoon proved no issue for the WNBA.

An average of 1.34 million tuned in to watch Game 2 of the WNBA Finals between the Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty, making it the most-watched WNBA Finals matchup since Game 2 of the 2001 Finals and the most-watched WNBA Finals game ever to air on ABC, according to The Athletic’s Richard Deitsch.

Sunday’s tilt, which tipped off at 3 p.m. ET, drew the eighth-largest audience in WNBA Finals history, Jon Lewis of Sports Media Watch reports. Game 5 of the 1999 series between the Liberty and Houston Comets holds the record, drawing 3.25 million viewers on NBC.
