BUENOS AIRES (AP) — South American soccer body CONMEBOL announced Friday night that River Plate’s Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires will host the final of the Copa Libertadores on Nov. 30.

The Argentine team is still in the competition and will face Brazil’s Atletico Mineiro, over two legs later this month, for a place in the decider.

CONMEBOL announced in February that Argentina’s capital will host the final of the most prestigious club tournament in South American soccer, but was yet to pick a venue. If River Plate had not advanced so far into the tournament, a smaller stadium than the renovated 84,000-seater could have been picked for the match.

The other semifinal of the tournament will be played between Brazil’s Botafogo and Uruguay’s Peñarol.

It will be the first time the Monumental Stadium has hosted the Copa Libertadores single match decider, which has replaced the two-legged system since 2019.
