McLaren’s Lando Norris will start on pole for Sunday’s United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
Norris was able to hold off Red Bull’s Max Verstappen after George Russell crashed into the barrier bringing Q3 to a premature end.
Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton stunningly failed to advance past Q1 and will start Sunday’s race in 18th. The seven-time world champion had qualified inside the top five in every previous trip to the United States Grand Prix.
