Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George left Monday’s preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks with a hyperextended left knee, according to Gina Mizell of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
George suffered the injury while defending during a play early in the second quarter.
The 34-year-old was wearing a sleeve on his knee postgame but was able to walk, and he told Mizell postgame that he’s “not too concerned” about the injury. He plans to undergo treatment on Monday night.
George has dealt with knee issues in the past, including a right knee sprain that ended his 2022-23 season early.
The 76ers are struggling to get through the preseason healthy. Star center Joel Embiid is being held out of the team’s final exhibition contests to manage his own knee issue.
George, a nine-time All-Star, joined Philadelphia on a four-year, $212-million contract this summer after spending five campaigns with the Los Angeles Clippers.
The 76ers will open their regular season on Oct. 23 against the Milwaukee Bucks.
