Matt Chapman is staying on the West Coast for the foreseeable future after the third baseman signed a six-year extension with the San Francisco Giants, the team announced Wednesday.

The contract is for $151 million and wipes out the final two years of his current deal with the club, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan. There’s no deferred money and the contract also includes a no-trade clause for the eight-year veteran, Passan adds.

Chapman inked a three-year, $54-million pact with the Giants in the offseason after spending the last two years with the Toronto Blue Jays. The deal had player opt-outs following each of the first two seasons – $17 million for the 2025 campaign and $18 million in 2026.

The 31-year-old is one of the best defensive infielders in baseball, having won his fourth Gold Glove last season in the American League. In 131 games with the Giants, Chapman is slashing .247/.333/.445 with 22 home runs and 69 RBIs.
