The San Francisco 49ers placed wide receiver Ricky Pearsall on the reserve/non-football injury list Monday, meaning he will miss at least the first four games of the 2024 season, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
The move comes after Pearsall was shot in the chest Saturday afternoon during an attempted robbery in central San Francisco. The 23-year-old was released from the hospital Sunday.
A 17-year-old male suspect is in custody for allegedly shooting Pearsall, police officials announced.
Pearsall joined the 49ers as a first-round pick in April. He’s part of a stacked San Francisco offense that also features running back Christian McCaffrey, tight end George Kittle, and receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel.
Pearsall played his final two college seasons at Florida and set a career high with 965 receiving yards in 2023. He also racked up six touchdowns last year.
San Francisco kicks off its 2024 campaign at home against the New York Jets on Sept. 9.
